Benefits of Technology in Dentistry

  • Better Diagnostic CapabilityTechnology gives oral surgeons more tools to diagnose dental problems. Accurate diagnosis means that patients receive the best treatment and shorten recovery times.
  • Safer Surgeries-  Surgeries planned with the 3-D Cone Beam Imaging scanner and computer-guided implant technology are safer and more efficient, reducing the risk of complications.
  • Improved Communication- With today’s detailed imaging results, oral surgeons can easily share information and help patients understand their procedure and their oral health.

Technology We Use for Implants & Oral Surgeries

3-D Cone Beam Imaging (CT Scan)

The 3-D Cone Beam Imaging scanner is a specialized X-ray machine that provides more detailed information than a standard dental or facial X-ray. The technology that powers this equipment is what doctors use to create CT scans.

The scanner uses a cone-shaped X-ray beam to produce 3-D images. In just one scan, the cone beam scanner can capture bones, nerves, and teeth. The images are more precise than traditional or digital X-rays.

Cone Beam technology provides a digital tomographic 3D view of the patient’s area of interest. A traditional X-ray is only two-dimensional. With Cone Beam systems, the doctor can get a full 360-degree view of the tooth and all surrounding areas.

The Vatech 3D Cone Beam scanner provides nearly limitless views of the teeth while using less radiation than traditional medical CT technology. This new technology is fast, simple, and painless, providing many wonderful benefits that were unavailable only a few years ago.

Computer-Guided Implant Placement

Our Team uses 3-D Cone Beam Imaging scanners to plan implant surgeries. Using guided surgery software, he can plan accurate treatments and increase safety and efficiency.

The surgeon can visualize the anatomy of teeth, bones, nerves, and nasal and sinus cavities. Knowing their precise location allows the surgeon to perform the implant surgery with a lower chance of complications.

DEXIS Intraoral Scanner

Intraoral scanners are small, handheld devices that the surgeon can use to capture detailed images of the patient’s mouth. This scanner creates accurate digital impressions without the hassle of dealing with traditional trays. The scanner’s images appear on the surgeon’s monitor, enabling them to share important information and explain treatment decisions.

Impressions have traditionally involved making a mold of your teeth using trays filled with a soft, messy, and often bad-tasting material that hardened around the patient’s teeth and gums. This created a precise model that was then used by the doctors and the lab to plan treatment and create final restorations.

The digital intraoral scanner provides a new, comfortable, and precise way for our office to take digital impressions of patients’ teeth. Taking accurate impressions of a patient’s teeth is a highly important part of a large number of dental procedures.
