We understand oral surgical procedures can sometimes be intimidating. We offer a wide range of anesthesia options in Davis to meet your needs, whether undergoing a routine procedure, tooth extraction, or a more complex treatment such as dental implants. Our priority is your comfort, and we strive to make sure you’re at ease every step of the way.

Why Is Anesthesia Important for Treatment?

Anesthesia plays an essential role in ensuring comfort and safety during your treatment. If you experience anxiety or worry about pain, anesthesia helps you stay calm and provides a pain-free experience. At Davis Oral Surgery and Implant Center, Dr. Amir Nojoumi and Dr. Pouya Namiranian want you to feel relaxed and comfortable during surgery. We offer a range of anesthesia options in Davis, allowing us to tailor the solution to your needs and ensure you can focus on your care while we focus on your comfort.

Types of Anesthesia We Offer

We provide various anesthesia options at Davis Oral Surgery and Implant Center to ensure you remain comfortable and relaxed throughout your procedure. After assessing your treatment and comfort level, we’ll help you choose the best option. Here are the anesthesia types we offer:

  1. Local Anesthesia: Local anesthesia numbs only the treatment area, and you remain awake during the procedure. It is ideal for simple procedures where you need to stay alert but won’t feel pain.
  2. Sedation Dentistry: If you have anxiety or simply need help relaxing, we offer sedation options like nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral sedatives. These help calm your nerves and keep you relaxed during the procedure, making your visit much more comfortable.
  3. IV Sedation: IV sedation is a deeper level of sedation that helps you relax even more than oral sedatives or laughing gas. Our oral surgeon will administer medication through an intravenous line, letting you feel calm, relaxed, and potentially unaware of the procedure but still responsive. This option is ideal for patients who need more extensive treatment or feel particularly anxious about treatment.
  4. General Anesthesia: We may use general anesthesia for more complex procedures like surgeries or lengthy treatments. It puts you into a deeper state of relaxation, where you will sleep through the entire procedure and not remember anything afterward.

How We Use Anesthesia: Step-by-Step

We ensure you fully understand the anesthesia process at Davis Oral Surgery and Implant Center before any treatment begins. Here’s a breakdown of how we typically use anesthesia for your procedure:

  1. Consultation: During your consultation, we’ll assess your medical history and discuss the specifics of your treatment. Based on this, we’ll recommend the best anesthesia option for you and explain the process clearly so you know what to expect.
  2. Preparation: On the day of your procedure, we’ll take extra care to ensure you’re comfortable. We’ll apply the numbing agent to the treatment area for local anesthesia. If you are receiving sedation or general anesthesia, we’ll set up the necessary IV or deliver the sedation through other methods that best suit your needs.
  3. Procedure: Once the anesthesia is in effect, we’ll begin your procedure. You won’t feel any pain, and our team will check in with you regularly to ensure your comfort throughout the treatment.
  4. Recovery: We will monitor you after the procedure until the anesthesia wears off. If you received sedation or general anesthesia, you will need a ride home as the effects will take longer to dissipate. We’ll provide detailed aftercare instructions to help you recover comfortably.

Your Comfort Is Our Priority

At Davis Oral Surgery and Implant Center, we’re committed to making your surgery experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible. I’m not a patient at the center, but the help I have received from them is beyond words. I’m here at UCDavis to help my niece (19 year old international student) with her medical and dental care needs after an electric scooter accident. I work as an administrator in medical field in another State, it has been very hard for me to get things done that she needs here. I was looking for a dental surgeon after her jaw surgery, and nobody from School Student Health and insurance company could point me to the right direction. The provider’s list provided by the insurance company is outdated. I was searching online and I found the Center. I didn’t see the Center is on the insurance list, but a feeling told me to give them a call. I’m so glad I did. Angela was the sweetest person I have encountered over the phone. Her compassion and caring heart just poured out after she heard my niece’s story. Even though their office won’t be able to help with what my niece needs, she still went above and beyond to offer help. She took initiative to call the surgeon’s office to get the surgery info to help moving forward. In today’s world, you don’t see or hear something like this happen anymore, I am very grateful for experiencing this in Davis, CA. It gives me hope for the society and the values people still hold. They can do this for a stranger, can you imagine what they will do for their own patients ? So if you are looking for an oral surgeon’s office, I highly recommend the Center to you! They don’t know that I’m posting this ( I normally don’t), this is from the bottom of my heart. Thank you Angela, I wish the best for you and the Center. Wen DePriest

Dr. Albadawi, the technicians, and the staff are all very polite, professional, and a treat to be served by! I had two implants set today and the process was smooth and easy. I've been here once before and the level of service and care is spectacular. Definitely recommend for any oral surgery needs 😊

I don’t always share on here but I wanted to. I was terrified to get my wisdom teeth taken out. I have been avoiding it for years and finally I broke one of my wisdom teeth was having such bad pain from the break I had no choice. I searched for a few days for an oral surgeon to take them out and all had a long wait time. I called on a Friday and by Monday I was getting my wisdom teeth removed. Mind you this was days before Christmas. So I was so glad to find a place to squeeze me in on short notice. Even though I was terrified, the pain was so bad I needed to do it. The team was so friendly and supportive even though I was extremely afraid. They talked me through the prep process and that was super helpful. I wish I could remember the woman’s name who held my hand while I was going under she was truly so helpful. I was so nervous and afraid and she was very friendly (and so was everyone else) but her holding my hand really helped me when I was scared. It’s been 10 days post op and I’ve healed up very well. I still have some soreness and discomfort but every day it gets better and I’m sure I’ll be back to myself in no time. I highly recommend this place if you need oral surgery.

My daughter had to have all four wisdom teeth removed, a week before she moved into her college dorm at Davis. She was so nervous and had to be fully put under. It was extremely hard for me waiting in the waiting room and not being there for her, but, from start to finish everyone was absolutely amazing. The gals at the front desk kept me distracted while the surgeon and his team took great care of my baby girl. Let me just add, we were supposed to have her teeth pulled at another oral surgeon, but something about them made me so uneasy and overly anxious. I didn’t think I had an option to take my girl somewhere else since they were referred by our dentist. However, motherly instinct set in and I called Davis Oral Surgery, they verified insurance, did a consult and scheduled her. All within a week. Thank you Angie and your partner (shame on me for not knowing her name), for your kindness and PATIENCE!! even though I called like five times. I was so stressed and overwhelmed and from the moment I called you, and you assured me it would be okay and I felt so much better. It doesn’t seem like a big deal to most, but my daughter is all I have so everything is a big deal to me. So thank you! Thank you 🙏🏼

Such a friendly office that shows they care about the patient. It was very comforting to have skilled professionals pull my husband's tooth. They made him feel relaxed and pulled hi bad tooth in a short amount of time. Thank you so much for the wonderful care you took with him.
